OLYMPIC TORCH ON DISPLAY AT MONAGHAN COUNTY MUSEUM
Monaghan County Museum opened its doors at its new home in the Peace Campus on June 24th. Their new groundbreaking exhibition ‘Bordering Realities – Monaghan People and Stories’, which explores the reality of the borders in our lives whether they be of the mind or of the land. Through a fascinating mosaic of personal stories of people from the county, the exhibition challenges the visitors with the question ‘Do our borders define us or do we define our borders?’ One of the many stunning objects on display for the first time is an Olympic torch, which was donated by Regina O’Reilly, from Castleblayney, County Monaghan. Cllr Aidan Campbell facilitated the contact between Regina and the museum, which led to this important donation to the collection.
