GLASLOUGH MUSICIAN WOWS THE HYDE PARK CROWDS

Last Friday was a proud moment for young Glaslough musician Jamie Duffy when he took to the stage to perform at Andrea Bocelli’s 30th anniversary concert at Hyde Park in London. This was a tremendous achievement for the Monaghan native who has been making great strides in the music business since the release of his debut single Solas only two short years ago. Having recently graced the stages of the illustrious National Concert Hall Studio and Belfast Grand Opera House Studio with four sold-out performances, Jamie took to the stage at iconic Hyde Park at 6 pm just after Matteo Bocelli’s set concluded.

Jamie introduced himself to the audience as a young musician from the small Monaghan village of Glaslough in Ireland who was both humbled and thrilled to be playing in front of a large audience in the prestigious and historic surroundings of Hyde Park. Jamie introduced the Bow Musique quartet who travelled from Ireland to accompany Jamie on stage during his set. Bow Musique are familiar faces on Irish television particularly due to their regular appearances on the Late Late Show. Jamie opened the set with his single ‘Realta‘ which was then followed by ‘Into The West,’ a piece which Jamie said was influenced by the Irish Famine of the 1840s’.

During this piece Jamie played both the piano and tin whistle as he explained to the audience the significance of the tin whistle to both music and culture in Ireland. The Irish theme very much continued as Jamie performed ‘Resonance’ a piece which he explained was named by President Michael D Higgins after a performance he gave at Áras an Uachtaráin in 2023.
