RTÉ’S GERRY MURPHY TALKS ABOUT THE WEATHER AT 71ST TYDAVNET SHOW LAUNCH!

The launch of the 71st Tydavnet Parish Show took place in the aforementioned village’s community centre on Monday evening. Tydavnet Show have had a rough deal over the years, when it came to the heavens opening, so who better to launch this year’s campaign than Met Eireann meteorologist? Gerry Murphy is better known as RTÉ’s weatherman, and he just so happens to hail from a South Monaghan farming background. \

After what was a busy weekend with Local Elections, Minister Heather Humphreys, was in attendance, with her Parliamentary Assistant Pauric Clerkin, who is newly elected to Monaghan County Council. Other public representatives were also there, including Senator Robbie Gallagher, Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council David Maxwell and Councillor Raymond Aughey. Councillors Maxwell and Aughey were also returned to Monaghan County Council over the weekend. The Minister for Community and Rural Development spoke of her affection for agricultural shows and she was complemented on rocking up with her raincoat and wellies like everyone else last year, during Storm Betty.
