LARGY STUDENTS SPREAD THE ANTI-RACISM MESSAGE WITH NEW RESOURCE PACK INITIATIVE

“We Are All Human” is the theme of a new resource pack of materials prepared by the students of Largy College in Clones which was launched at Clones Courthouse yesterday, Wednesday lunchtime, at the conclusion of the final meeting of the Co Monaghan Joint Policing Committee. The project has seen the evolution of an antiracism toolkit developed by the current team of Young Social Innovators at the Clones secondlevel school as an extension of the award-winning RACE or Right Attitude Creates Equality initiative undertaken by their predecessors a number of years ago.

The project has attracted funding from the Department of Justice through its Community Safety Innovation Fund and the active endorsement of the JPC, whose Chairperson Brian McKenna told yesterday’s launch that his Committee had been delighted to assist the Largy students in taking the body of work that had emerged from the RACE initiative and turning it into a resource pack that could be used by students across the county to address racism and inequality wherever they found it. “Largy College is a Champion School in the Schools of Sanctuary network and we applaud their efforts to promote equality,” Councillor McKenna stated.

In an illuminating and polished presentation on the We Are All Human project, students Saidbh, Sinead, Emily and Denisa said that it had its genesis in 2020 when the RACE team at the school decided to focus on racial justice issues…
