A podcast series is being produced as part of a Community Link Project to mark this year’s 50th anniversary of the bombings in Dublin and Monaghan Town. People in the Monaghan community are being asked to share their stories, experiences and memories of the bombing on May 17 1974 and have them recorded to create an archive. There is an open call to come and record your story at the Market House in Monaghan Town on Friday February 2 from 10 am-2 pm. Said the organisers: “The fabric of Monaghan town changes all the time and as the years go by Monaghan loses its characters and their stories. These stories/memories and experiences will be lost unless we make a huge effort to collect, document and archive these stories.

“The accounts of the people from the bombing especially will be fifty years old this year and we are running out of time to preserve these stories and it is hoped the podcast series will be broadcast on RTÉ Radio to coincide with the 50th anniversary.” If the set date and time does not suit you and you wish to make a contribution, you can email monaghanbombing@gmail.com or contact Brian Clerkin (085-1072557) to make alternative arrangements.
