BIKE WEEK CONCLUDES

Bike Week in County Monaghan coordinated by the Active Travel Unit of Monaghan County Council and Monaghan Sports Partnership came to its close on Sunday afternoon. A nationwide initiative by the Department of Transport, the National Transport Authority (NTA) and Transport for Ireland celebrates active travel, sustainable transport and simply the joys of cycling a bike! The central aim of the week in the County was to create awareness of the benefits of cycling.

The events arranged throughout the 10 days attracted and encouraged cyclists, particularly new cyclists of all age groups to discover the enjoyment of cycling, promoting a sustainable and healthy method of transport. The public were encouraged to avail of the Free bike maintenance checks that was being made available by participating stores in the week leading up to Bike Week. Thanks to the Spin Doctor, Emyvale, Monaghan Hire and Diamond Bikes Clones for coming on board ensuring bikes were road worthy! Participants on the bookedout e-bike tours, which were facilitated by Drumlin Trails Bike Hire enjoyed beautiful surroundings and interesting stories from their guide Paddy.
