CO COUNCIL SUMMIT WITH EIRGRID VITAL OPPORTUNITY SAY ANTI-PYLON CAMPAIGNERS
Co Monaghan Anti-Pylon Committee has called on the elected members of Monaghan Co Council to ‘continue to stand up for the interests of impacted communities” when they meet Chief Executive Mark Foley and other head personnel of the electricity grid operator next month. “The staunch support of local councillors in seeking to underground the proposed 400Kv North South Interconnector from its announcement to an unsuspecting public in 2007, has been fundamental in underpinning the ongoing campaign of Co Monaghan Anti-Pylon Committee from the beginning,” the campaign group said this week.
“The importance of the upcoming meeting with EirGrid cannot be underestimated, with councillors being provided with an opportunity to voice the concerns of landowners and impacted communities directly to the senior management of Eir- Grid.” The committee have outlined their reasons for regarding the meeting as particularly important in the following statement: Local councillors are due to meet with EirGrid on May 8 2023 to listen to a presentation on how the developer intends to proceed with the installation of large ugly steel pylon structures…
