NASHVILLE RESOUNDS TO THE FÉILE ORIEL BEAT
The home of country music is dancing to a different beat these days, according to Monaghan woman Liz McGuinness, who has undertaken a seven-day self-funded promotional tour in the USA to promote the 2023 and 2024 Féile Oriel traditional music festivals in Monaghan Town. Liz began her campaign at the St Patrick’s Week Tradfest in Nashville organised by Brenda Willis and continued her promotional activities at the main Irish hub in the city: McNamara’s Irish Bar and Restaurant run by Paula and Seán Mc- Namara.
“That was a fantastic opportunity to promote Féile Oriel and Fiddler of Oriel as there was such an immense crowd of Irish and Irish American people coming, and going all day there,” Liz told us. “Needless to say I didn’t get away without taking to the stage to perform a song or two! “Paula McNamara, who is originally from Newry, took posters and brochures and will wear the Féile T-shirt at work for the month of April to help promote the event, which will also be canvassed on the bar’s social media platforms.”
