FIT FOR PURPOSE! – POLITICIANS EMBRACE THE WELLBEING HABIT IN THREEMILEHOUSE

25 February 2023 No Comments by The Northern Standard

When in Rome… Threemilehouse has become something of a personal fitness and wellbeing Mecca in recent times thanks to judicious investment from Government Department funding streams to enhance the community offering made by Seán MacDiarmada GFC and the Kilmore and Drumsnatt Sports Activity Hub. So a tour of the village for local politicians who visited on Friday had to include a stop-off at the recently installed outdoor exercise equipment, which several of the guests felt obliged to try out.

Our photograph by Rory Geary shows, from left: Cavan/Monaghan TD Matt Carthy, constituency Senator Robbie Gallagher, local Deputy and Minister for Community and Rural Development Heather Humphreys, Cathaoirleach of the Ballybay/Clones Municipal District Hugh McElvaney, tour guide Ciaran McEntee of Threemilehouse Residents Association, and Cathaoirleach of Monaghan Co Council Seán Conlon.

Minister Humphreys was present to turn the sod on the new walking track being developed adjacent the Seáns complex. Earlier she had performed the national launch at the M:TEK 1 building at Knockaconny in Monaghan Town of the Art in the Hubs initiative, a new scheme which will see the work of contemporary Irish artists put on display in remote working hubs in Co Monaghan and throughout the country. Full reports and more photographs from the Minister’s Friday engagements in the county are carried in this week’s Northern Standard.
