MCCAUGHEY FOODS SEEKS PLANNING PERMISSION FOR €150M NEW PRODUCTION FACILITY IN CASTLEBLAYNEY THAT WILL CREATE 300 SKILLED JOBS

Monaghan-based McCaughey Foods, one of Ireland’s leading producers of ready-to-eat meat products, has announced it will invest €150 million to build a world-class new production facility in Castleblayney. Subject to a successful planning application, the new factory will allow McCaughey Foods to significantly increase production in order to meet growing demands from customers in Ireland, the UK and EU. The new facility will also create up to 300 skilled new jobs, in addition to significant employment generated during the construction phase.

“Under our plans, the new facility will be a centre of excellence for cooked food production in Ireland,” Mr McCaughey said. “We have worked with engineers and designers from around the world to ensure the factory will employ the latest technology in food quality, robotics, automation, research and development, making it an industry-leader for innovation and science.” Founded in 1996, McCaughey Foods is a family-owned operation that currently employs 130 people across two facilities in Castleblayney.
