MONAGHAN HOUSEHOLDERS ADVISED TO SECURE HOME HEATING OIL SUPPLIES

Householders in Co Monaghan have been advised to take measures to ensure home heating oil tanks are made secure from theft. There has been a national rise in the number of reported oil thefts as the price of the product has increased sharply in recent months. Gardaí nationally have advised home and business owners to put preventative measures in place to avoid being targeted by thieves. They have advised the public to check oil levels frequently, arrange smaller but more frequent domestic oil deliveries, and be vigilant after a delivery.

“Oil prices are rising so sharply that oil tanks are now being targeted,” a Garda spokesperson stated. “We are warning the public to be aware of these thefts and to take precautions, some of which are simple to do.
