CONCERN OVER FUTURE OF LOCAL EMPLOYMENT OFFICES IN CLONES AND BALLYBAY

Concerns have been raised this week about the future of Local Employment Offices in the towns of Clones and Ballybay. Fianna Fáil Senator for Cavan/Monaghan Robbie Gallagher and his party colleague on Monaghan Co Council Seamus Coyle said the offices were facing imminent closure, and the decision had left people in both towns “very disappointed and deflated”. “The decision has come as a shock to both the community and the staff involved,” Senator Gallagher told the Northern Standard.

“The move to amalgamate both services into the Monaghan Town base would go against the promotion of services in rural towns and villages. “The move is a shock, particularly coming so soon after AIB’s attempt to remove cash services in many similar towns across the country. “Local people have expressed their deep disappointment and staff are naturally deeply concerned about the implications it will have for them. “Ballybay has already lost its Social Welfare office and now it seems..
