TIMELY FUNDING BOOST FOR ‘BLAYNEY AND TYDAVNET SHOWS
Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael TD and Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys TD has announced a timely financial boost for the Castleblayney and Tydavnet agricultural shows which are set to be staged once again this summer after being deferred for a number of years due to the restrictions attendant to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Co Monaghan events are among a list of 119 agricultural shows taking place in the coming months which will each receive allocations of up to €6,000, based on vouched expenditure.
“I know how much agricultural shows mean to people in rural communities,” Minister Humphreys stated “I am such a passionate visitor to our shows myself – and I know the organisers in Tydavnet and Castleblayney are pulling out all the stops ahead of their big day.” Declaring her intention to visit the Co Monaghan show events in Castleblayney on Bank Holiday Monday, August 1 and in Tydavnet on Saturday August 20, the Minister added: “Between cattle best of breed, dog shows, sheep and poultry competitions, and music, these events are extremely popular and I’m delighted to support their return to the summer calendar. “Our shows signal fun, energy and a sense of community – something for all the family.
“They are a shop window for what is produced locally and bring visitors from near and far. “Practically every weekend over the coming months there is an agricultural show on somewhere in Ireland.
