PASSING OF DISTINGUISHED FORMER MONAGHAN COUNCILLOR AND BUSINESSMAN
“A strong campaigner on behalf of local issues and a committed advocate of the people of the town,” was one of the phrases used by Fianna Fáil Senator Robbie Gallagher yesterday when he paid tribute to the late Lorcan Ronaghan of Drumcarn, Latlurcan in Monaghan Town, who passed away on Tuesday of this week. A Fianna Fáil representative on Monaghan Urban District Council and Town Council for a long number of years, Mr Ronaghan was also a very successful local businessman who helped establish a family pharmacy that continues to make a significant contribution to the commercial life of the county capital.
He was a very capable local public representative of progressive outlook, ever constructive and conciliatory in his contributions in the Council Chamber but a determined advocate and defender of the interests of the town.
