MONAGHAN ONLY MINOR INJURY UNIT OPERATING FIVE-DAY SERVICE – CASE FOR EXPANSION IS “INARGUABLE” SAYS SINN FÉIN TD

Figures revealed by Sinn Féin TD for Cavan/Monaghan Matt Carthy this week show that the Minor Injury Unit at Monaghan General Hospital is the only one in the country operating a five-day-a-week service. The country’s other MIUs are all in operation each day of the week, and for longer daily hours than those that apply in Monaghan. “The Minor Injuries Unit at Monaghan Hospital is the only such unit that does not operate on a 7-day week basis and is alone in not opening on Bank Holidays – it also has the shortest opening hours of any of the 10 MIUs across the State,” Deputy Carthy told the Northern Standard this week.
