COUNTY COUNCIL ASKS TAOISEACH FOR SHARED ISLAND FUNDING FOR CLONTIBRET TO THE BORDER ROAD PROJECT
Monaghan Co Council is awaiting a response from Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD to a request that he allow money from the Shared Island Fund to be used to enable work on the major Clontibret to the Border road development on the N2 to continue this year.
No Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) funding for the project was forthcoming for 2022, leading to fears that work might have to be abandoned. In the management report before Monday’s meeting of the Council, Director of Transportation Services Patricia Monahan said that a special meeting in relation to the Clontibret to the Border scheme took place between representatives of the Co Council and Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys on Monday February 28.
