COUNTY COUNCIL GETS€1.3 MILLION IN HOUSING ADAPTATION GRANTS
Monaghan Co Council has been allocated €1,303,725 to spend on Housing Adaption Grants in 2022. The funding is for a suite of measures which supporting older people and people with a disability to live independently. Monaghan Co Council is regarded as one of the most efficient local authorities in the country in the use of funding in this area. Grants are 80% funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage with the additional 20% coming from the Co Council’s own resources.
“This is both good news for people who need and deserve the support to live in their own homes for as long as possible, and is also positive in terms of reducing dependency on our health service,” Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael TD and Government Minister Heather Humphreys stated after the funding was announced by Minister of State for Local Government and Planning, Peter Burke TD. “Fine Gael is working to build stronger safer communities and it is important we support people to live in their own homes for as long as they possibly can,” Minister Humphreys stated.
