‘CLIMB WITH CHARLIE’ FUNDRAISER ON SATURDAY
Northern Standard reporter Michael Fisher is undertaking a “Climb with Charlie” fundraising walk on Saturday 2nd April traversing the wellknown 6.5km Rock Walk in Sliabh Beagh. He invites you to join him starting at the car park opposite the path to the Poll an Aifrinn Mass rock at Knockballyroney, starting at 10am. He has set up an online iDonate “Climb with Charlie” fundraising page in support of his former colleague in RTE News, Charlie Bird, whom he met again recently at a book launch in Belfast.
All funds raised will go directly to Pieta and Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association (IMNDA), a charity Michael has previously raised funds for. The looped route is along quiet rural roads and affords some wonderful views of the Co. Monaghan countryside. It can be completed in one and three-quarter hours, with stops along the way.
Anyone coming to Sliabh Beagh is asked to come with suitable footwear and walking gear. Bring your own refreshments and enjoy them at one of the stops along the way. Please park your car without causing obstruction and with consideration for other road users. Wear a hiviz vest if you have one. Bring your litter home with you and keep…
