COMBILIFT CUTS TIES WITH RUSSIA AND BELARUS AS MONAGHAN HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS FOR UKRAINE MOUNT
Monaghan’s global leaders in forklift production Combilift announced this week that they cut all trade ties with Russia and ceased equipment production and sales to the country following its invasion of Ukraine. Combilift said it had also ended all production and trade to Belarus. The construction machinery manufacturer said it had suspended the employment of its Russian-based staff from February 28.
“This was a tough decision to make after building close relationships with our Russian partners and customers who have been a pleasure to do business with since 2005,” a spokesperson for the company stated. “As the situation for civilians in Ukraine worsens, we are deeply concerned for their safety and wellbeing. “We hope that those responsible for this conflict will cease military activity and a democratic resolution can be reached.”
Combilift also announced that in partnership with the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, it had donated €50,000 to aid the supply of relief assistance to the people of Ukraine including people who were displaced and those who were on the move. Humanitarian efforts have been taking place across Co Monaghan to gather aid for Ukrainian refugees arriving in other European countries after fleeing their homeland.
