INTERCONNECTOR REVIEW TO BE DELIVERED THIS MONTH

The so-called ‘review of reviews’ of the North South interconnector will be presented to the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications by “early March”. This was revealed by Minister Eamon Ryan TD in response to a Dáil question from Fianna Fáil Deputy for Cavan Monaghan, Brendan Smith. Following the response Deputy Smith again appealed to Minister Ryan that he should insist that Eir- Grid underground the transmission cables if the North South interconnector project is to proceed.

Reacting to a similar answer received from Minister Ryan, Sinn Féin Deputy Matt Carthy repeated his view that the socalled ‘review’ of the interconnector will not provide the assurance and clarity that communities need.
