BALL OF MONEY! – €2.3 MILLION FOR CO MONAGHAN SPORTS CLUBS

€2,329,900 in grants under the Sports Capital Programme were announced this week for clubs in Co Monaghan. The successful Co Monaghan applicants were Aughnamullen GFC, Ballybay Pearse Brothers GFC, Blayney Rovers FC, Carrick Rovers AFC, Carrickmacross Emmets GFC, Carrickmacross Tennis Club, Castleblayney Golf Club, Cavan & Monaghan ETB, Clones Golf Club, Clones Town Football Club, Corduff Gaels, Cremartin Shamrocks GAA, Donaghmoyne GFC, Doohamlet Sports & Development Committee, Eire Og na Mullai GFC, Emyvale GAA, Gaeil Triucha CLG, Killeevan Sarsfields GAA, Monaghan County Council, Monaghan Rugby Club, Monaghan Youth Federation, Oram Sarsfields GFC, Phoenix Centre Carrickmacross, Rockcorry GAA, Scotstown GFC, Sean McDermotts GAA and Toome GAA.

Minister for Sport Jack Chambers TD announced a record €150 million in funding for local sports clubs across the country. There was widespread political welcome for the announcement. Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Brendan Smith commented, “I’m delighted to see such a strong investment in grassroots sports from this Government, and particularly happy to see such a strong investment in Cavan and Monaghan.
