MINISTER OPENS TEMPORARY GARDA BASE IN EMYVALE

“This is a great day for Emyvale” was the unanimous view at the opening on Monday of a new temporary Garda base in Emyvale. It was a sentiment expressed by both the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, who performed the official opening, and the Chair of the Joint Policing Committee in Monaghan, Sinn Féin Councillor Brian McKenna.
They were joined by the Cathaoirleach of Monaghan County Council, Cllr Aidan Campbell; the Cathaoirleach of Monaghan Municipal District, Cllr David Maxwell and some of his colleagues, Cllr Raymond Aughey and Cllr Cathy Bennett, along with Senator Robbie Gallagher, who had received confirmation a year ago that a modular structure was to be brought in as a temporary measure. Cavan Monaghan Division Chief Superintendent Alan McGovern told The Northern Standard the temporary service was there to provide for the future.
