MONAGHAN SHOWCASE EVENT WILL UNVEIL INTERNATIONAL SONG CONTEST WINNER
A gala event that will bring to a conclusion the search for a definitive anthem for the Farney County will be “a celebration of all things Monaghan”, Liz McGuinness of the Mad About Monaghan (MAM) group told the Northern Standard this week. The winning entry in the Entekra-sponsored Monaghan Anthem International Song Contest, which has sparked a truly global level of interest since its inception, will be revealed at a spectacular function in Monaghan Town’s Four Seasons Hotel on Sunday May 1.
The deadline for Monaghan Anthem entries has been extended to February 28 so it is quite possible that the ultimately triumphant song is still in the throes of composition. Entries have already been received from across the country and overseas and, if you wish to join the competition, terms and conditions are all on the www.madaboutmonaghan.ie website. “The anthem needs to be an upbeat, happy, sing-along song – a song you can sing at GAA matches, weddings, parties and other celebratory occasions. It needs to be punchy and catchy,” Liz pointed out. The winning song will be revealed at a gala function whose every facet is being tailored to present…
