MINISTER HUMPHREYS DELIVERS NEW YEAR CHEER WITH MAJOR JOB CREATION INVESTMENT FOR LOUGH EGISH

Funding of over €732,000 to facilitate the further development of the Lough Egish Food Park in central Co Monaghan was announced by Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael TD and Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys today, Thursday. Minister Humphreys expressed the hope that the funding – under the RRDF or Rural Regeneration Development Fund – would be a significant driver for job creation in the Lough Egish and wider area.

Minister Humphreys also announced a €330,760 investment in Carrickmacross, to aid the development of a new community hub, youth centre, museum, restaurant and remembrance garden at the South Monaghan town’s Workhouse heritage centre. The Lough Egish project will involve the design of access roads and public realm works, as well as additional waste water treatment works. The project also aims to unlock the potential of a vacant industrial land bank to meet the demand for industrial food processing space and is expected to provide significant employment opportunities in the area.
