An initiative of the Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) around the country the #LookforLocal campaign aims to promote local businesses and encourages consumers to invest in their local economy by shopping local. Last year LEO Monaghan created an online directory of businesses in the county where you could shop online, showing consumers that they could shop online and still shop local. The directory has grown considerably and now has over 200 businesses listed, some of which have availed of the Trading Online Voucher from the Local Enterprise Office. The voucher offers a 50% funding up to a maximum of €2500 towards the cost of building a new or updating an existing ecommerce website. In the lead up to Christmas 2021, LEO Monaghan staff have been visiting businesses with the #LookforLocal sign and have been promoting them across their social media platforms. This was a promotional opportunity for businesses but also gave the LEO staff a chance to talk to businesses and hear about the challenges they were facing.
