A SONG FOR MONAGHAN – CONTEST LAUNCHED TO GIVE COUNTY ITS DEFINITIVE ANTHEM

At long last, the Farney County is to have its own anthem. With sponsorship from Entekra, Co Monaghan’s global leaders in residential and commercial off-site construction, the Mad About Monaghan business promotion group this week launched A Song for Monaghan, a competition open to anyone, anywhere in the world with the objective of giving Co Monaghan an identifying musical signature tune.

“The chosen song will for ever more represent this great wee Drumlin county of Monaghan,” declared Mad About Monaghan “mammy” Liz McGuinness when announcing details of the global song search this week. Entries can be submitted to anthem@madaboutmonaghan.ie, and the website also contains all competition terms and conditions. The closing date for entries is January 28 2022, with the final shortlist of songs due to be chosen by early March.

Liz told the Northern Standard this week that she has a stellar team of judges lined up to adjudicate. “In early April we will have a gala finale to announce the winning song and celebrate and showcase all things Monaghan,” the businesswoman and Mad About Monaghan driving force….
