MAN IN COURT AFTER €200,000 WORTH OF CANNABIS DISCOVERED AT CARRICK PREMISES

It has been confirmed to The Northern Standard that Gardaí in Carrickmacross executed a search warrant on Bank Holiday Monday night, 25th October at approximately 9 pm, on premises in Drummond Etra, which had been placed under surveillance as part of an intelligence-led operation related to the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Carrickmacross and Monaghan areas. The search, which took place under the auspices of Operation Tara, uncovered significant evidence of a cannabis growhouse in operation.

It is understood that a large quantity of cannabis, with an estimated street value of €200,000, was seized. One male was arrested at the scene and detained at Carrickmacross Garda Station under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act. The man, 24-year-old Iliunta Olari with an address on the Old Ardee Road in Carrickmacross, came before a sitting of the District Court in Monaghan yesterday, Wednesday morning on charges in connection with the incident. He was remanded in custody to appear before the court again on November 8.
