Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly TD on Friday last announced the development of a Specialist Palliative Care Inpatient Hospice that will deliver an integrated 16-bed Inpatient hospice and community care service on the St. Christopher’s site in Cavan. Visiting Cavan, Minister Donnelly said the new development would the provision of 16 Level 3* inpatient palliative care beds and co-located community services. This development will be funded both by the St Christopher’s Hospice Committee and the HSE and will equate to a joint investment of approximately €7.5 million,” the Minister stated.

“The new service will enhance service delivery through delivering a Level 3 inpatient and co-located community palliative care service with palliative care consultant oversight. “I am also delighted to further announce the development of community-based residential accommodation for eight people with a physical and sensory disability as well as an enhanced respite service. This new development represents a further investment of approximately €2.5 million and confirms the Government’s commitment to people with a disability.”
