THERESE THANKS HER LIFE-SAVERS AT ‘BLAYNEY RESTART A HEART EVENT
The World Restart a Heart Day message of the importance of having knowledge of CPR techniques was movingly encapsulated at an event at Castleblayney Ambulance Station on Saturday when a two-year-old local girl had the opportunity to say thank you to some of those who helped save her life last August. Little Therese Hickey almost drowned in a pool at the family home but thanks to the CPR administered by her mother Melinda with the help of a neighbour and the expedient response to the emergency by paramedics and Gardaí she was stabilised and airlifted to the Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin where she made an against-the-odds recovery described on Saturday by Temple Street’s Dr Cathy Gibbons as “a miracle story”.
