PUBLIC URGE CO COUNCIL TO TAKE ROLE IN REMOVAL OF RACIST GRAFFITI
A desire for Monaghan Co Council to play a role in the removal of racist graffiti which appeared in the county was one of the issues identified during the public consultation process for the new local authority Litter Management Plan which was formally adopted by the members of the Council at their recent October meeting.
The plan was the subject of a detailed presentation to the meeting by the Council’s Environmental Awareness Officer Sharon Finnegan. The plan, which will run from 2021 to 2023, has as its primary objective the elimination of litter in Co Monaghan. It also seeks to raise awareness of its contents and objectives among the public, develop and continue the current programme for street cleansing in the county’s towns and villages, and continue the “high level of enforcement that exists in the county under the Litter Pollution Act 1997-2009”.
