DRIVER OF LORRY INVOLVED IN KNOCKACONNY ACCIDENT PRONOUNCED DEAD AT SCENE

the road and entered the ditch on the N12 at Knockaconny outside Monaghan Town on Tuesday morning was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The body of the man, in his 60s, was removed to the mortuary of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where a post mortem is expected to take place. No one else was injured and no other vehicles were involved in the incident, which occurred around 7.20 am. Gardaí and emergency services attended at the scene.

The Monaghan to Armagh road was closed for the greater part of Tuesday to facilitate an examination of the scene by Garda forensic collision investigators. Local diversions were in operation. Monaghan Gardaí have appealed for information in relation to the incident. A Garda spokesperson stated: “”Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.
