COUNTY COUNCIL SETS OUT AMBITIOUS HOUSING FOR ALL TARGET

Monaghan Co Council has set a target to deliver 551 social housing units in the county between 2022 and 2025. The figure is considerably above the target of 361 houses set for the local authority by the Government under its recently announced Housing for All programme. The Council delivered 431 houses over the period of the previous Rebuilding Ireland programme, exceeding its target figure by 205.

The statistics were outlined during Monday’s meeting of the Council in a presentation on the new Government housing strategy and the local authority’s own programme for housing provision in the coming years. Members of the Council’s Housing Section were praised at the meeting by Co Council Cathaoirleach Aidan Campbell for exceeding the targets set for the Monaghan authority by the Government by over 100% in some cases.
