COUNCILLOR CARTHY ELECTED TO CAVAN AND MONAGHAN ETB CHAIR

Sinn Féin member of Monaghan Co Council Colm Carthy was elected the new Chairperson of the Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board when the body met at the Garage Theatre in Monaghan Town on Tuesday. Councillor Carthy succeeds Cavan’s Sean Fegan in the role. Fine Gael member of Cavan Co Council Carmel Brady was elected Deputy Chairperson, succeeding April Anna Barker. During the meeting, Chief Executive John Kearney made presentations to the Board regarding the ETB’s Strategy Statement for 2022-2026. Mr Kearney said the new plan sought to build upon the impressive growth and development of the ETB over the five-year span of the previous strategy. The meeting heard an update on the progress of significant capital investments projects for Ballybay Community College and Beech Hill College in Monaghan Town.
