COILLTE REPORT CONFIRMS ROSSMORE PARK AS ONE OF IRELAND’S TOP OUTDOOR RECREATION AMENITIES

Rossmore Forest Park in Monaghan was the appropriate venue on Friday for the launch of a report by Coilte which confirmed the amenity as the second most visited of the authority’s public amenities last year. The report launch was performed by Cavan/Monaghan Fine Gael TD and Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys, who also announced a package of national outdoor amenity funding from her Department which included a €50,000 provision for the upgrade of Rossmore’s toilet facilities.

Accompanied by Coillte Head of Recreation Daithí de Forge and Dr Liam Twomey, Chairperson of Comhairle na Tuaithe, Minister Humphreys performed the sod turning for the development of a family cycle trail in the park – part of an ongoing development programme which will also see enhancements of the Giant’s Trail, car-parking facilities, the natural play area for young people and improvement works to the entranceway and directional signage.
