“This year’s Monaghan minor panel have retained their focus despite two shutdowns in a lengthy season, which is now set to extend into 2021” was how we summed up the county’s late-December Ulster MFC quarter-final win over Antrim, but just how long into the year that campaign would stretch was unknown at that stage.

A convincing win at Corrigan Park on the penultimate Sunday of 2020 had Monaghan looking forward to bidding to qualify for a third consecutive provincial final, but extended restrictions post- Christmas put the competition in doubt once again. Those doubts lingered for some time until it was eventually confirmed that the remaining games would be rescheduled from late June. Teams still involved in the 2020 minor….
