MONAGHAN CIVIL DEFENCE MEMBERS PRAISED FOR “HEROIC” PANDEMIC EFFORT AS NEW HEADQUARTERS OFFICIALLY OPENED

The “heroic” effort made by members of the Monaghan Civil Defence to support community assistance during the Covid-19 pandemic was praised by the Cathaoirleach of Monaghan Co Council, Councillor Colm Carthy when he performed the official opening of the organisation’s new headquarters on Friday last. The new base, located adjacent Monaghan Fire Station at Annahagh, provides personnel with training and lecture rooms and office space, welfare facilities and storage capacity for fleet, equipment and boats. Funded by Monaghan Co Council with an assisted contribution from the Civil Defence Branch of the Department of Defence, the facility was built by Moss Construction with oversight from Coyle Civil & Structural Engineers, Monaghan.

Speaking at Friday’s formalities, the Co Council Cathaoirleach said that Monaghan Civil Defence was “the embodiment of all that is health in Monaghan.
