The number of Covid-19 cases in Co Monaghan has been increasing gradually over the past week, including the Easter holiday period. towards the end of march, monaghan had the lowest incidence rate per 100,000 of population over a fourteen day period. now, in the last few days monaghan has risen to 17th in the table of 26 counties, with an incidence rate of 89.6 compared to the national average of 157.1. at midnight on monday the total number of cases in co monaghan had increased to 4,923, with six cases being added on easter monday and seven the previous day, an indication of why the incidence rate is showing an increase.

issues in relation to the covid-19 vaccination programme predominated the media focus on the pandemic in recent days.
