A young girl, Evangelyn, poses with one of the images of St Patrick that were placed at locations in the centre of Monaghan Town by The Acts Community Church, as part of their St Patrick’s Day celebrations and to bring the festival out into the community. The name Evangelyn derives from the Greek and means “Good News”. St Patrick in his Confessio wrote: “I am first of all a simple country person, a refugee, and unlearned….” And of the Irish he said, “Now, they have become the people of the Lord, and are called children of God.”
