COVID-19 SPREADING RAPIDLY IN MONAGHAN

INCIDENCE RATE OVER FOURTEEN DAYS IS HIGHEST IN STATE

As Covid-19 continues to spread in the community in Co. Monaghan, the level of cases over two weeks is now the highest in the Republic and over double the national average. On Wednesday evening the incidence rate stood at 1638.8 and Monaghan was top of the list of twenty-six counties. The same day 275 positive cases were added to the total in the county which now stands at 2467.

In the past week, daily totals of over 5000 and 6000 cases have been reported throughout the country. The government has therefore decided to put the Republic on full level five restrictions until the end of January, after the guidelines for travelling and gatherings in households had earlier been…
