CO COUNCIL TO SEEK ULSTER CANAL MEETING WITH WATERWAYS IRELAND

Monaghan Co Council is seeking a meeting with Waterways Ireland to discuss the further development of the Ulster Canal project. At the Council’s December meeting, Fianna Fáil councillor Seamus Coyle asked that correspondence be reissued to the relevant Government Ministers north and south in relation to the convening of a meeting of the advisory group on the project. Sinn Féin’s Pat Treanor said he was aware that Waterways Ireland had been meeting Fermanagh and Omagh District Council to update them on the Ulster Canal’s progress.

“I am disappointed that we are not being kept up-to-date by Waterways Ireland,” Councillor Treanor stated.
