CO COUNCIL UNVEILS NEW STRATEGIC PLAN FOR BIODIVERSITY AND HERITAGE

The members of Monaghan Co Council on Monday gave their imprimatur to the Monaghan Biodiversity and Heritage Strategic Plan for 2020-2025. Outlined to the November meeting of the local authority in a presentation by Heritage Officer Shirley Clerkin, the plan sets out approaches to tackle the twin challenges of biodiversity loss and climate change in the county over the next five years, and polices to safeguard built and intangible cultural heritage and “its significance for identity and resilience in society”. Ms Clerkin informed the members that up until now the Co Council had two separate plans for biodiversity and heritage but they had agreed to join them together two ….
