BRAGAN BOG HOLDS ITS SECRETS 45 YEARS AFTER THE DISAPPEARANCE OF COLUMBA MCVEIGH

The bog at Bragan mountain continues to hold its secrets. Five searches carried out by forensic investigators from the Independent Commission for the Location of Victims’ Remains have so far failed to find the body of Co. Tyrone teenager Columba McVeigh. In November 1975, the 19 year-old from Donaghmore was abducted by the IRA, murdered and secretly buried in the bogland near Carrickroe. Now, on the 45th anniversary of his disappearance, his family have renewed their calls for any information that could lead to the discovery of their brother’s body, so that he can be given a Chrsitain burial. Oliver McVeigh told The Wider View on Northern Sound: “I’m confident there’s still people out there that can find Columba’s body. Just clean your soul and give the information because none of us is getting any younger. Life is too short to have these things at the back of your mind. You would make everybody very happy including yourself….
