Objections have been lodged to a plan to build a human crematorium on a greenfield site near Broomfield. The proposed building which would be the first of its type in Co. Monaghan would be on a four acre site adjacent to an already approved pet crematorium at Aghnafarcan. That application was made in July last year by Olive Cunningham and granted permission with certain conditions on 12th November 2019 by Monaghan County Council.

Last month a site notice was erected stating that the same applicant was seeking permission to provide “a single storey human crematorium building incorporating a chapel of rest… adjacent to and within the same complex as (a) previously approved pet crematorium building.”

The application was inserted as legally required in a local newspaper by the client’s architect and planning consultant.
