RECORD SPEND BY CO COUNCIL ON HOUSING ADAPTATION GRANTS – BUT DEMAND FOR AID REMAINS HIGH

Monaghan Co Council spent almost €1.8 million in housing adaption grants to accommodate the needs of elderly and disabled people in 2020 but still had to close the scheme by June because it became oversubscribed. This emerged at last week’s meeting of the local authority during a discussion engendered by a motion from Fianna Fáil’s Seamus Coyle seeking an urgent meeting with the relevant Government Minister in order to leverage more funding for the relevant schemes and alleviate what he described as conditions….
