MONAGHAN AND CAVAN HOTELS BRACING FOR SURVIVAL BATTLE

The Irish Hotels Federation said this week that their latest industry survey revealed the enormous challenges facing hotels and guesthouses in Monaghan and Cavan and across the country as demand for accommodation continued to plummet as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. An IHF media release continued: The impact on employment and people’s livelihoods is stark for an industry that supported 270,000 jobs nationally at the beginning of the year – one in ten of all Irish jobs.

An estimate 100,000 of these jobs have been lost so far this year and a further 100,000 are now in imminent risk in the coming weeks, including 3,500 in Monaghan and Cavan. With the summer season finished, Ireland’s hotels and guesthouses are now…
