Monaghan town is to receive a government grant of €25,000 for the provision of a large screen for outdoor town centre events. As part of the package there will also be pop-up canopies, mobile seating and a green space set up at Courthouse Square, along with town centre marketing promotion activity. The money awarded by Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, is part of a €2.8 million package under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme. Across the State, 106 towns and villages will benefit.

It’s the first time funding has been awarded under this scheme for Covid specific purposes. The approved projects will assist businesses and communities in towns and villages to adapt to the challenges posed by Covid-19, such as implementing social distancing, and to increase footfall and generate economic activity in the shortterm.
