PUBLIC SUPPORT RALLIED TO GET MONAGHAN BACK IN BUSINESS

SHOP LOCAL, SAVE JOBS –

“Shop local, Save jobs” is the catchcry of a new campaign launched this week to help businesses reopening in the North Monaghan area after the easing of Covid-19 restrictions to hit the ground running. The launch of the posters to be erected at key road points took place following Tuesday morning’s monthly and Annual Meetings of the Monaghan Municipal District, which is co-ordinating the promotion in tandem with the Monaghan Town Team retail support group.

Newly elected MD Cathaoirleach Councillor Seamus Treanor identified the restoration of economic health as one of the authority’s key objectives in the year ahead. On taking office, Councillor Treanor said the Municipal District would have to try very hard to get at least 80%-90% of Monaghan businesses back to some degree of trading normality. He also identified the reopening of schools as being crucial to economic recovery. On Monday both the outgoing and incoming Chair-holders of Monaghan Co Council added their voices to calls for local patriotism in future shopping choices by Monaghan people in order to maximise the county’s chances of economic renaissance.
