MD CATHAOIRLEACH MAKES FRESH PLEA FOR RESTORATION OF ‘BLAYNEY MARKET HOUSE

The Cathaoirleach of the Carrickmacross-Castleblayney Municipal District, Cllr. Noel Keelan, has once again highlighted the need for the Department & Government supports to restore the Market House in Castleblayney town to its former glory; the good people of the town and surrounding area, and those who visit the town for amenities like the Big Tom statue, have looked at this vacant derelict building long enough.

He said yesterday :”Monaghan County Council, as the owners of this historical building, have a responsibility to play its part but can’t do it alone – the cost of restoring this building is estimated at between €4-7 million euro, which is beyond the reach of our council resources.
