RARE TRIPLET CALVES BIRTH ON TYHOLLAND FARM

The birth of triplet bull calves on a farm in Tyholland in Co Monaghan is being hailed as an extremely rare happening in Irish agricultural circles. The Simmental triplets were born on the farm of Owen McNally in April. It’s believed that the odds of a cow giving birth to triplet calves are over 105,000/1, while the chances of the calves being of the same sex and healthy are less than one in 400,000 births. The new arrivals were calved on their own by their mother, an animal home-bred by Mr McNally.
