PUBLIC CONTINUING TO COMPLY WITH COVID-19 GUIDELINES: GARDA CHIEF

There has been an increase in traffic on the roads since Tuesday, when some coronavirus restrictions were eased, according to Gardaí. Chief Superintendent John O’Reilly of the Cavan Monaghan Division said they were still seeing a significant degree of compliance with Covid-19 guidelines. Whereas agricultural vehicles and lorries continue to move around, there are now more private cars on the road, although it’s too early to explain what the reasons are, according to the Chief Superintendent.

He told The Northern Standard there was nothing to suggest that people were using the opportunity to breach the guidelines. Garda checkpoints and patrols will continue to be active in the short and medium term, and they will see after May 18th what effect the first phase of the roadmap to normality…
